The Copyright Act protects every original artistic work — paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, architectural drawings and works of artistic craftsmanship — irrespective of artistic quality. For artists, galleries and creators, registration provides legally admissible proof of authorship and date of creation, essential for art commerce, exhibitions, licensing and infringement claims. We document the work (image, medium, dimensions and date), register it under Form XIV in the artistic-work category, and ensure both economic and moral rights vest correctly — including the author’s inalienable rights of attribution and integrity, which survive even after the economic rights are assigned.
